Patriarch Bartholomew promised to grant autocephaly to Belarusian schismatics

The head of the non-canonical so-called Belarusian Autocephalous Orthodox Church, Sviatoslav Login, said that Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople promised to grant autocephaly to the structure he heads. Login allegedly discussed this with Bartholomew a year and a half ago during their meeting at the Phanar. This was reported by Romfea.

«We recognize the sacred canons and our path within the framework of canonical Universal Orthodoxy. About a year and a half ago, I met with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in Constantinople, and we talked about our recognition… The Patriarch welcomed us very warmly. When the topic of possible autocephaly came up, the Patriarch told us that we should wait, but also prepare for recognition in the future,» — Login said.

Earlier, we reported that Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople continues to promote the idea of unifying the date of Easter celebrations with Roman Catholics. The head of the Phanar believes that in order to achieve unity, the Orthodox and Latins must return to the practice that was adopted at the First Ecumenical Council.
