10 thousand Hasidic pilgrims have already arrived in Uman to celebrate Rosh Hashanah

About 10 thousand Hasidic pilgrims have already arrived in the city of Uman to celebrate the Jewish New Year Rosh Hashanah 5786, which this year is celebrated from September 22 to 24. The peculiarity of the pilgrimage this year will be its long duration due to the coincidence of the holiday with two Sabbaths. This is reported by jewishnews.

As Irina Rybnitskaya, executive director of the Charitable Foundation «Historical and Cultural Center of Uman», said on the air of the TV channel «Suspilne», the main flow of pilgrims is expected on September 18 and 19.

Iryna Rybnitskaya also explained the peculiarity of the current pilgrimage. According to her, because of the two Sabbaths, which coincide with the holiday period, the believers arrive earlier and will stay in Uman longer than usual. The celebration of Rosh Hashanah 5786 will take place from the evening of September 22 to the evening of September 24.

We shall remind you that earlier we reported that the city authorities of Uman, as well as the US and Ukrainian diplomatic missions urge Hasidim not to visit Uman in 2025. The reason given is the continuation of the Russian-Ukrainian war. In addition, the Ukrainian Embassy in Israel points out that the Israeli authorities have not yet established contacts with the Ukrainian government on this issue.
