Patriarch Bartholomew met with the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives at the Capitol

On Wednesday morning, Patriarch Bartholomew concluded his visit to Washington with a meeting with Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Mike Johnson. After the talks, a bipartisan and bicameral dinner was held in the U.S. Capitol building in honor of the head of the Phanar, during which the Patriarch delivered a speech. This was reported by The Orthodox Times.

In his remarks at the luncheon, the head of the Phanar noted the commonality of diversity inherent in both the United States and the Orthodox faith. «The Capitol itself bears witness to the great experiment called the United States of America. The Ecumenical Patriarchate understands how it is possible for such diverse peoples to come together and become ‘E Pluribus Unum’ (‘Out of Many, One’), for the same is true of our Orthodox Christian faith, which welcomes all people who come with a sincere heart,» Patriarch Bartholmoyer said.

«Therefore, as we conclude our remarks today, we offer praise to this nation of many, which strives to be united, and invoke upon you, Mr. Speaker, and upon all who serve the American people, the blessing of God and His infinite mercy,» he added.

We will remind, earlier we reported that the Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew, during his visit to the United States, said about the benefits of legalization of the Ukrainian Church schism and the granting of the Tomos on autocephaly of the PCU. He noted that he informed US President Donald Trump about this, speaking about the «justice» that has come to Ukraine due to this step of the Patriarchate of Constantinople.
