The priest who offered "ordination to the diaconate" for 000 for deferment from service in the Ukrainian Armed Forces turned out to be a cleric of the OCU

A priest detained in Volyn region, who offered to ordain a deacon for 10,000 dollars to evade service in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, turned out to be Volodymyr Kravchuk, rector of the church of Apostles Peter and Paul in the village of Voshchatin in Volodymyr district, which belongs to the Volodymyr-Volyn diocese of the OCU. According to the investigation, in order to make his actions look legitimate, the priest advised the «candidate» to buy special church vestments and learn certain biblical texts.

It is reported that Kravchuk is suspected under part 3 of article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine(receiving undue benefit for influencing officials, combined with extortion). During the investigation, the court chose a measure of restraint in the form of overnight house arrest. In case of proof of guilt, he faces up to eight years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
