"Can we switch to dollars at once?": The Verkhovna Rada proposed to place the inscription "We believe in God" on hryvnias

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has registered a draft law proposing to add the inscription “We believe in God” to banknotes of the national currency, the hryvnya. The initiative is aimed at changing the design of Ukrainian money by amending the current legislation on the National Bank.

According to the Verkhovna Rada portal, the relevant bill under the number 14102 was filed on October 6. One of its authors was an MP from the Servant of the People faction, Heorhiy Mazurashu. The initiative was also co-authored by public figure and human rights activist Mykola Gunko.

The proposal provides for amendments to Article 33 of the law “On the National Bank of Ukraine”. At the moment, the text of the bill itself, as well as the explanatory note to it, are not available on the official website of parliament, which does not allow to familiarize with the details and arguments of the authors.

We shall remind you that recently Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, speaking at the Council on Foreign Relations of the United States on August 19, devoted special attention to the formation of statehood of the United States. He praised the “founding fathers” for their adherence to the “Judeo-Christian tradition”, which has become one of the foundations of American politics.
