In Khmelnytsky region the abbot of the UOC monastery will be tried for beating a man to death

The former rector of the Holy Cross Monastery of Khmelnytskyi diocese of the UOC of Starokonstantiniv city, Archimandrite Iosaf Gorkavchuk, will stand trial on charges of inflicting grievous bodily harm that led to the death of the victim. The indictment in the case has already been sent to court.
According to the Ukrinform news agency, the cleric is accused of committing a serious crime. According to the investigation, as a result of beating by the cleric of the Khmelnytskyi diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the victim received injuries incompatible with life.
All the circumstances of the incident, as well as the motives of the crime will be established during the trial. In case of conviction, the accused faces punishment in accordance with the Criminal code of Ukraine for intentional grievous bodily harm that caused the death of the victim.
We will remind, earlier it was reported that the Starokonstantinovsky district court of Khmelnytsky region extended the measure of restraint in the form of detention for the former rector of the Holy Cross Monastery of the UOC of Starokonstantinov Archimandrite Iosaf Gorkavchuk. He is suspected of fatally beating a serviceman. According to the court decision, the priest will be under arrest until December 18, 2025.
