Archbishop John of Albania met with Pope Leo XIV in Rome

Archbishop John of Tirana, Durres and all Albania held a meeting with Pope Leo XIV. The meeting, held in Rome, focused on restoring peace, ending wars and supporting youth, emphasizing the common role of Christians in promoting global harmony.
As reported by Orthodox Times, the meeting took place in a private audience following the International Conference “Osare la pace” (“Daring for Peace”) organized by the Community of St. Egidio. During the conversation, Archbishop John and Pope Leo XIV discussed issues of mutual interest.
Particular attention was paid to the urgent need to end the wars plaguing the world and the importance of restoring peace. In addition, the sides emphasized the key role of care and support for young people, who are the present and future of our societies.
Earlier, the Primate of the Albanian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Archbishop Ioan, expressed his views on the Ukrainian Church issue. The First Hierarch drew attention to the fact that the establishment of the OCU has split world Orthodoxy, noting that the Synod of the Albanian Church has expressed its position on this issue and it remains unchanged.
