The main thing is that the SBU managed to neutralize the influence of the UOC on society, - former MP

Former Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Chernenko has praised the work of SBU head Vasyl Malyuk with regard to clergymen of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Chernenko is convinced that thanks to Malyuk’s work, for the first time in the years of Ukraine’s independence, the security services managed to «neutralize the influence of agents in cassocks». He said this in a commentary to the portal DSnews.ua.
«The SBU acts systematically and does not allow the FSB agents in the UOC (MP) to deploy again in Ukraine. Real terms for traitors have made it much more difficult, and in some places even impossible for Moscow to recruit new agents in the church environment. Real terms for traitors have made it much more difficult, and in some places even impossible for Moscow to recruit new agents in the church environment,» the former MP said.
Chernenko added that according to opinion polls, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has lost its influence on society. This result, in his opinion, is the best indicator of the work of the SBU in relation to the UOC.
«The main thing is the neutralization by Malyuk’s subordinates of Russian influence on millions of people who believed «agents in cassocks». All social surveys record: the UOC (MP) has lost a significant part of its parishioners, who finally realized who their «spiritual fathers» really are,» — summarized Chernenko.
Earlier we reported that since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the Security Service of Ukraine initiated more than 200 criminal proceedings against representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church «on the facts of anti-Ukrainian activities and other crimes». Dozens of clergymen, including high-ranking hierarchs, were suspected and sentenced «for working for the Russian security services, justifying aggression and destabilizing the situation in the country».
