Employees of Cherkasy's Third City Hospital "transfer" UOC hospital church to OCU

Employees of the Third City Hospital of Cherkasy held a meeting at which it was decided to transfer the hospital chapel in honor of the Apostle Luke, equipped by the Cherkasy Diocese of the UOC, to the control of the OCU. This was reported by the regional publication 18000.

It is noteworthy that the hospital employees who voted for the transfer of the hospital church to the control of the OCU are called «parishioners» and the event that decided the fate of the chapel is called a «parish meeting.» Moreover, it became known that the participants of the event approved a new version of the community’s charter and «unanimously voted for the parish to become part of the Cherkasy Diocese of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.»

The Cherkasy diocese of the OCU notes that the parish at the 3rd city hospital «traditionally performs an important pastoral mission, providing spiritual care for patients, medical workers and their families,» and the «transition» of the community to the OCU opens up the possibility of «prayer in the Ukrainian language.»

«We sincerely welcome the religious community at the 3rd City Hospital of Cherkasy in the bosom of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and prayerfully wish God’s blessing, peace, spiritual harmony and fruitful service for the benefit of people and Ukraine,» the diocese said in a statement.

It is worth noting that the Third City Hospital of Cherkasy is the same medical institution whose employees refused to help UOC believers who suffered during the seizure of the Archangel Michael Cathedral of the UOC last year. Later on, the head physician of the hospital was awarded an order by the head of the Cherkasy Diocese of the OCU.

As we reported earlier, on the morning of November 11, 2025, a forceful seizure of the church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in honor of the icon «Chernobyl Savior» took place in the city of Cherkasy . It is reported that representatives of the OCU, with the support of police officers and the Security Service of Ukraine, occupied the building, forcing the community of UOC believers out of it.
