US Congresswoman: Persecution of Christians in Ukraine under President Zelensky unacceptable

US Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna has sharply criticized the policies of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, saying that it is unacceptable to ignore the persecution of Christians taking place in the country. She emphasized that the issue of religious freedom in Ukraine is of fundamental importance and requires close attention of the international community. She wrote about this on her account in the social network X.

Member of the U.S. House of Representatives Anna Paulina Luna took part in the action in defense of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, held on December 16, 2025 in Washington, DC. The purpose of the action was to draw attention to the current situation. In her account in social network X the congresswoman wrote: “I was honored to join the delegation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to draw attention to the state-sponsored repression of religious freedom.”

According to Anna Paulina Luna, the United States has an obligation to consistently uphold the fundamental right to freedom of faith and to speak out in defense of Christians around the world. She also expressed the opinion that the U.S. should not support politicians, during whose reign there is religious persecution.

Recall, earlier we reported that in Washington, representatives of various Orthodox churches and Christian communities organized a “Day of Action of Orthodox Christians and their allies” to draw attention to the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC). The event, held on December 16, 2025 on Capitol Hill, drew about 200 participants. They held dozens of meetings with members of Congress and visited all House and Senate offices, urging lawmakers to protect the rights of believers.
