DESS initiates appellate review of the case of termination of Koretsky Holy Trinity Nunnery

The State Service of Ukraine on Ethno-politics and Freedom of Conscience (DESS) announced the date for the appeal hearing of case No. 855/14/25. The court proceeding concerns a lawsuit filed by DESS against the religious organization «KORETS HOLY TRINITY WOMEN’S MONASTERY of the Moscow Patriarchate» for the termination of its activities. The session will be held on January 15, 2026 in the Cassation Administrative Court of the Supreme Court.
According to the State Service of Ukraine on Ethno-politics and Freedom of Conscience (DESS) on its official website, this notification is made in order to comply with the norms of the Code of Administrative Procedure of Ukraine concerning the disclosure of information by the central executive body implementing the state policy in the sphere of religion. The appeal hearing is scheduled in connection with the appeal of DESS against the determination of the Sixth Administrative Court of Appeal of November 24, 2025, which returned the statement of claim.
The court hearing will be held on January 15, 2026 at 14:30 at the following address: Kyiv, 8 Princes Ostrozhskikh Street, Bldg. 5, in the premises of the Cassation Administrative Court of the Supreme Court. The subject of the lawsuit remains the requirement of the DESS to stop the activities of the above-mentioned religious organization.
Recall, earlier we reported that the media established the total amount of immovable property owned by Koretskyi Holy Trinity Stavropigial Women’s Stavropigial Monastery of the Russian Orthodox Church, located in Rivne region. Journalists expect that all the property of the monastery will be expropriated by the state after the Holy Trinity Monastery loses its legal registration.
