Religious community of the Assumption Cathedral in Vladimir continues worship services despite the deprivation of the temple

The religious community of the Assumption Cathedral in the city of Vladimir continues its liturgical life despite the deprivation of the main church. The faithful are forced to gather for prayer in the chapel of All Saints of the Volyn land (Vladimir), with a significant part of the congregation praying in the open air due to limited space.

According to the Information and Education Department of the UOC, on December 21, 2025, in the 28th Week of Pentecost, Metropolitan Volodymyr-Volynsky and Kovel Volodymyr celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the above-mentioned chapel.

The Chapel of All Saints of the Land of Volyn (Vladimir) became a permanent place of prayer for the community after their cathedral was taken away from the faithful. It is worth noting that most of the chapel’s space actually serves as an altar, forcing most parishioners to pray outside the chapel walls, in the open air.

Despite these difficult circumstances, the clergy and faithful of the cathedral show resilience as they continue their liturgical and spiritual ministry. During the Liturgy, at the Litany of the Liturgy, special petitions were traditionally offered for peace in Ukraine and for its Defenders. At the end of the Liturgy, Vladyka Volodymyr addressed the congregation with a word of sermon, supporting the spirit of the parishioners.

We shall remind you that earlier we reported that the People’s Deputy of Ukraine Igor Guz announced the forthcoming eviction of the Vladimir-Volynsk diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church from the chapel in honor of St. Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Volodymyr, which is located near the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the city of Volodymyr, previously taken away from the Church by the state. According to the MP, the religious organization occupies the historical building without any legal grounds, contracts or permits, which is an unauthorized seizure of a religious building.
