Kyrylo Hovorun: Every Ukrainian should have the right to choose which church to attend

The defrocked former cleric of the Russian Orthodox Church, Kirill Govorun, expressed his position on the religious situation in Ukraine. He emphasized that Ukrainians should have the right to freely choose their church affiliation, and that solving the problem of external influence requires a deep and multifaceted approach that is not limited to simple administrative measures. Hovorun spoke about this on the FREEDOM TV channel.

“It seems to me that we need to understand very clearly why all this is necessary. First of all, of course, in my personal catalog of priorities, it is necessary to ensure freedom of conscience for a person. So that every Ukrainian, a citizen of Ukraine, has the opportunity to choose where to go,” he said.

Earlier, the hierarch of the OCU, Alexander Drabinko, also said that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will not disappear from Ukraine, but may go underground. In his opinion, it would be much better for the OCU to establish a dialogue with the clergy and believers of the UOC than to intensify confrontation.
