"Shalom, Orthodox!": mass production of kosher bread launched in Bukovina

In Chernivtsi region, mass production of kosher products was launched at the local bakery of the “First Bread” trademark. This project has become a unique for Ukraine example of organization of large-scale production of religious products at the regional level. This is reported by the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine on Facebook.
The enterprise officially received a kashrut certificate from the Chief Rabbi of Chernivtsi region Menachem Mendl Glitsnstein. According to the new standards, the rabbi personally controls the observance of religious norms at all stages of baking. The list of certified products includes four popular types of products: “Orilsky”, “Dnestrovsky”, “Borodinsky” and “Alchevsky”. Buyers will be able to recognize kosher bread by a special oval mark on the bottom crust of the loaf.
Bogdan Honchar, director of the plant, explained the decision to launch the new line by the desire to meet the needs of different communities and to raise quality standards. According to him, the availability of kashrut certificate is not only a guarantee of observance of religious canons for the Jewish community, but also serves as an additional independent confirmation of product quality for all other consumers.
The realization of the project became possible thanks to the joint efforts of Menachem Mendl Glitznstein and local community activists Joseph Wexler and Leonid Milman. As of today, kosher baked goods are already on free sale and are available on a regular basis both in large retail chains and in brand stores in Chernivtsi.
We shall remind you that earlier we reported that Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a bill criminalizing anti-Semitism in the country.
