OCU announces opening of Kyiv Cave Monastery caves "for all faiths"

Representatives of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) have announced plans to provide access to the Near and Far Caves of the Kyiv Cave Monastery to everyone, regardless of their religious affiliation. This statement was made by the «governor of the OCU Lavra» Abraham Lotysh, according to Novyny.LIVE.

Lotysh promised that «all the faithful, regardless of denomination, will have access to the Near and Far Caves to worship our reverend fathers of the Caves.» He emphasized that the caves are currently undergoing «restoration.»

Lotysh also mentioned mothers who, according to him, come to the caves, falling down to the fathers and praying for the return of their sons and daughters. However, the «abbot of the OCU Lavra» did not specify how this happens, given that access to the Lower Lavra for believers has been blocked since 2023.

Answering a journalist’s question about who exactly should be prayed to in the caves for victory, Abraham Lotish said that «in principle, you can come to any deceased fathers and venerate them in order to receive spiritual help.»

Earlier, we reported that the employees of the «reserve» changed the locks on the doors of the churches in the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, blocking access to the UOC monks.
