Employees of the "reserve" changed the locks on the doors of churches in the Kyiv Cave Monastery, blocking access to UOC monks

On the territory of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, locks were cut from a number of churches, reportedly blocking access to the shrines of the monastery for Ukrainian Orthodox Church monks. The incident occurred in the context of ongoing disagreements over the management of the complex.

As it became known from the report of the lawyer of the Kyiv Cave Monastery, Archpriest Mykyta Chekman, representatives of the reserve, which is in charge of the Kyiv Cave Monastery, began cutting locks on some of the religious buildings of the monastery.

The monastery’s lawyer, Father Mykyta Chekman, confirmed the information, specifying that the locks are being dismantled at the Holy Cross and Warm Churches of the Lower Lavra. These actions, he said, prevent the brethren from accessing the churches.

This incident is another episode in a series of events related to the transfer of control over the premises and property of the Kyiv Cave Monastery.

Earlier, we reported that the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine transferred the first two buildings on the territory of the Lower Lavra to the representatives of the OCU for free use. We are talking about the 49th and 70th buildings — the residences of the Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine and the Chancellery of the Kyiv Metropolis.
