In Odessa TCC officers detained protodeacon of the UOC: the family reports pressure and calls for prayer

In Odessa, employees of the Territorial Completion Center (TCC) detained Protodeacon of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Oleksiy Dehalyuk, who performs ministry in the Church of St. Alexander Nevsky.

According to the UOJ, the clergyman was sent to a training center where, according to his loved ones, he faces harsh conditions, moral pressure and ridicule because of his faith. The protodeacon’s family is calling on the faithful for increased prayer for his well-being and a just resolution of the situation.

The incident occurred on February 9. According to information provided by the relatives of Protodeacon Alexei Degalyuk, a cleric of the Odessa diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, after his detention in Odessa he was transferred to one of the educational centers, where he remains until now. The cleric’s relatives express serious concern about his condition, emphasizing that we are talking about a clergyman and pointing out the difficulties he has faced.

Protodeacon Alexei Degalyuk is known for his ministry in the church located near the military hospital in Odessa. His wife Maria and two young children are waiting for him at home, which adds to the drama of the situation. The family asks all concerned believers to increase prayers for his spiritual and bodily strengthening, for God’s intercession and fair resolution of the circumstances.
