DESS congratulated the Muslims of Ukraine on Ramadan, noting their resilience in war conditions

The State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience (DESS) has officially congratulated Ukrainian Muslims on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, emphasizing their unwavering faith and steadfastness in the face of military trials. The office expressed its deep hope for the early advent of peace, when prayers can be freely heard in every mosque in the country.
In its congratulatory message, the DESS noted that for Muslims, Ramadan is «a time of special closeness to the Almighty and to each other, when support has the weight of bread, a spoken word the strength of an embrace, and a common prayer becomes a source of strength.» This message emphasizes the importance of community and spiritual support in difficult times.
Officials emphasized that Ukrainian Muslims «keep fast in difficult conditions, perform namaz where explosions are heard nearby, and at the same time remain true to their faith, their oath and their state.» This recognition underscores the courage and patriotism of believers who continue to follow their religious duties in the face of the ongoing armed conflict.
In conclusion of her address, DESS expressed her sincere wish that this holy month will bring closer the time when the voice of the muezzin will be «heard in free mosques», which is a symbol of peace, freedom and restoration of full religious life in Ukraine.
We will remind, earlier we reported that on January 6, 2025 on the official website of the President of the Republic of Poland was published a Christmas greeting, which the head of state Andrzej Duda addressed to the Primate, clergy and believers of the Polish Orthodox Church. Most of the POC celebrates Christmas on January 7, the old style, in connection with which the President of Poland congratulated Orthodox Poles on the eve.
In turn, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who congratulated Ukrainians on December 25 on the Gregorian calendar, did not react in any way to Christmas on the old style. Neither on January 6 nor on January 7 did the official mass media of the Office of the President of Ukraine react in any way to the fact that one third of the country’s population celebrates this holiday according to the Julian calendar.
