on February 24, 2024, the fourth anniversary of the Russian Federation’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople led a solemn service and memorial service for all the victims of the war. The service was dedicated to the repose of the souls of the dead and the spiritual strengthening of the faithful during the period of Lent.

According to Orthodox Times, the event took place at the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. George in Phanar. On this day, the Divine Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts was celebrated, which coincided with the celebration of the Feast of the Finding of the Fair Head of St. John the Baptist (New Style).

At the end of the Divine Liturgy a special requiem was served for the repose of the souls of all those who became victims of the war in Ukraine.

We will remind, earlier we reported that on the day of commemoration of the Holy Great Martyr Panteleimon (old style), Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople visited the Russian-speaking St. Panteleimon community in Istanbul. The head of the Phanar noted that the Patriarchate of Constantinople is the Mother Church for all nations and «embraces all its children.»
