Metropolitan Arseny of Svyatogorsk released from pre-trial detention center under house arrest

The hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan of Sviatogorsk Arseniy, has been released from the pre-trial detention center under house arrest. This decision was made during the court hearing, which was held today in the Chechelovsky district court of the city of Dnipro. About it reports the edition Raskolam.net.

It is reported that the vicar of the Holy Assumption Svyatogorsk Lavra Metropolitan Arseny was kept in the custody of the detention center for two years. During this time, the bishop had to endure inhumane conditions of detention in the pre-trial detention center, which threatened his health and life.

Nevertheless, the panel of judges of the Chechelovsky District Court of Dnipro, which headed today’s court hearing in the case against Metropolitan Arseniy, decided to change the measure of restraint — from detention in the pre-trial detention center to stay under house arrest.

Earlier Metropolitan Isaac (Barakat) of Germany and Central Europe, hierarch of the Antiochian Orthodox Church, publicly expressed his support for Metropolitan Arseny of Sviatogorsk, who is under investigation. In his address, he emphasized the pastoral merits of Metropolitan Arseny and called on the faithful to pray for his speedy release and healing.
