Metropolitan Longin thanked the faithful after the trial and called for forgiveness and steadfastness in faith

After the regular court session at the Hertsayev Court, held on March 3, 2026, Metropolitan Longin of Banchena addressed the faithful who came to support him, thanking them for their prayers and presence. The archpastor called his flock to forgiveness, prayer and faithfulness to Christ, emphasizing that he perceives what is happening as a spiritual trial and expressing confidence in the triumph of justice.

According to the official Facebook page of the Banchen Monastery, Vladyka Longin thanked the clergy and laity, noting that he did not feel left behind. “We are together and God is with us, ” the metropolitan said, expressing gratitude to the court for considering the case “within the law.” He emphasized that justice will surely prevail.

Metropolitan Longin emphasized the spiritual dimension of what is happening. “It is not us who are being judged today. They are judging God, they are judging the Lord’s Church, the canonical and Orthodox Church,” he noted, calling on the faithful to keep peace in their hearts, forgive and avoid bitterness during the days of Lent.

The bishop said he forgives all those who participated in the falsification of documents and the conduct of the investigation. “If the hour has come to suffer for the Lord God, for our holy and Orthodox faith – let us thank God,” he added. Vladyka also urged the faithful to remain firm in their faith and not be afraid of persecution, reminding, “Do not be afraid of being persecuted, be afraid of losing grace.”

We shall remind you that earlier Metropolitan Longin of Banchena informed about the intention of the state authorities to liquidate the orphanage at his monastery, where more than 300 children, including orphans, children with disabilities and victims of military actions, find shelter. The statement was made on September 23, 2025 after a regular court session.
