Deputy Head of Volyn Regional State Administration discusses issues of religious life in the region with head of OCU

Deputy Head of the Volyn Regional State Administration Taras Shkiter met with the head of the OCU Epiphany Dumenko in Kyiv. During the conversation, they discussed the religious life of Volyn, the situation in the region and the role of the church in society.

According to vsn.ua, the meeting took place at the residence of the head of the OCU at St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery during Taras Shkiter’s working trip to the capital, as he himself reported on his Facebook page.

The meeting was focused on topical issues related to the situation in Volyn, the daily life of local communities, and general social processes taking place in the region. The deputy head of the regional state administration emphasized that Volyn is known for its strong spiritual traditions, and the church plays a key role in the lives of people and communities in the region.

Earlier, we reported that Ukrainian MP Ihor Huz expressed his intention to take away a number of monasteries in the Volyn region from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church after the state completes the expropriation of the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the Volodymyr-Volyn Diocese of the UOC. The next targets for expropriation will be the Holy Dormition Monastery in the village of Zymno and the Holy Dormition Monastery in the village of Nyzkynychi.
