Three nuns were tonsured in the nunnery of Rivne diocese of the UOC

on March 12, 2026, Metropolitan Pimen of Rivne and Ostrozh performed the rite of monastic tonsure at the Pokrovsky nunnery in the village of Goscha, Rivne region. During the divine service three nuns of the monastery took the small schema and received new names: nun Ignatia became a nun Cherubima, nun Ioanna – Taisia, and nun Georgia – Irina. Taking a new name symbolizes the final renunciation of the past life and full dedication to the service of God. This is reported by the press service of the Rivne diocese of the UOC.
After the ceremony, Vladyka Pimen addressed the newly tonsured sisters with a farewell address, wishing them spiritual purity and zealous passing the path of monastic exploit. The Archpastor reminded that monks are called to be a spiritual support for the whole world, quoting the words of the Gospel: “You are the salt of the earth”. At the conclusion of the service, the clergy and faithful congratulated the new nuns, wishing them spiritual strength and God’s help in carrying the monastic cross.
