Mayor of Frankivsk explains why a park, not a school or kindergarten, will be built on the site of the destroyed UOC church

The mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk, Ruslan Martsinkiv, has explained why a park will be created on the land plot on Chornovil Street, where the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Savior and Preborealization Church, which was demolished by the city authorities, was previously located, instead of the previously announced kindergarten. According to Martsinkiv, the decision was made due to the lack of green areas in the central part of the city and the limited area of the site, Informator Ivano-Frankivsk reports.
“We saw that the kindergarten that we could hypothetically design is designed for a maximum of three groups (ed.). This is a small number. We really lack green areas, especially in the central part of the city. We can make a beautiful memorial park here. There are 17 acres of land there. And accordingly, you can make a beautiful small park. I think there will be a lot of ideas for this park,” said the mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk.
The mayor noted that trees could be planted there, paths could be arranged, landscaping could be done, and a monument could be made, a sign or a stele. It is possible to install a memorial screen with photos or videos. According to the mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk, they want to create the park by the end of the year.
“I’m still talking about ideas that may exist. We are open to discussion. We want to hold an architectural competition very quickly ,” the mayor summarized.
It is worth noting that since the demolition of the Transfiguration Church of the UOC in Ivano-Frankivsk, the city authorities have repeatedly changed their plans for what will be built instead. First of all, it was a kindergarten , and later the city authorities announced the construction of a secondary school. Now, the mayor of the city is talking about creating a park on the site of the seized and destroyed UOC church.
