Ivano-Frankivsk City Council intends to build a school on the site of the previously demolished Transfiguration Church of the Ivano-Frankivsk Eparchy of the UOC

The mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk, Ruslan Martsinkiv, said that the city council plans to build a school on the site where the diocesan administration and the Transfiguration Church of the Ivano-Frankivsk Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church used to be located. Earlier, the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council planned to build a kindergarten on the site of the dismantled buildings. This was reported by the regional publication Halka.
«Tomorrow (August 2 — ed.) at the session, we will announce an investment competition to build an elementary school. We have analyzed and realized that there is a greater need for it than for a kindergarten,» — said Ivano-Frankivsk Mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv.
It is worth noting that the claims of the Ivano-Frankivsk city authorities to the land plot on which the diocesan administration and the Transfiguration Church of the UOC were located took place in 2017. It is noteworthy that at that time the Supreme Court of Ukraine left the land and premises in the ownership of the Church. However, later, taking advantage of the political instability, the city council decided to expropriate and later demolish these buildings. Thus, the church and the diocesan administration were demolished in early 2022.
