"Supported the Russian Federation": SBU in Cherkasy region detained wife of UOC priest

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has documented “criminal activity of a pro-Kremlin agitator” in Cherkasy Region. She turned out to be the wife of the rector of one of the churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, who was spreading calls to support Russia’s armed aggression and to continue missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine via messengers.
According to the Ukrinform newspaper, citing data from the regional SBU department, “the main audience of the propagandist was her acquaintances and parishioners of the religious community. To conduct information activities, the woman used chat rooms in Telegram, where she praised the actions of the Russian leadership and agitated for the continuation of air attacks on Ukrainian cities.”
In the course of searches at the place of residence of the defendant, a computer used for the distribution of “destructive content” was seized. Specialized linguistic expertise confirmed the facts of information-subversive activities of the suspect in favor of the aggressor country. Based on the collected evidence, the woman was reported on suspicion under Part 2 and Part 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (justification, recognition of lawfulness or denial of armed aggression of the Russian Federation). The attacker faces up to 8 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
We will remind, earlier we reported that Lviv regional Council continues to sweep believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the region. Regional authorities are concerned that despite the legal liquidation of religious communities of the UOC and seizures of temples of the canonical Church, believers still gather for prayer in private residences in Lviv and other cities in the region. The Lviv Regional State Administration said that the Security Service of Ukraine will be involved to completely liquidate the “hotbeds” of the UOC.
