Political analyst Konstantin Bondarenko accuses OCU of waiting for Filaret's death to seize property

Political analyst Kostyantyn Bondarenko announced the intentions of the OCU leadership to seize the property of the UOC-KP. According to him, the hierarchs of the organization were waiting for the death of Filaret Denisenko to carry out raider actions without hindrance.

During a podcast with Oleksandr Shelest, the expert emphasized that the OCU has been using raider methods of operation for the past seven years. Bondarenko argues that such actions are directed not only against the canonical UOC but also against the structures of the Kyiv Patriarchate, while the issues of legality or ethics are simply ignored by the OCU hierarchs.

The expert drew a literary parallel, comparing the representatives of the OCU to the hero of Pushkin’s novel, Yevgeny Onegin, who was waiting for his uncle’s death. According to the political scientist, despite some external respect for Filaret, the organization’s leadership was looking forward to his departure in order to continue the process of absorbing the assets of the UOC-KP. In addition, Bondarenko expressed the opinion that Epiphany Dumenko has not gained proper authority as a spiritual leader.

Earlier, it became known that the OCU officially announced the transfer of rights to the brand and property of the Kyiv Patriarchate under its control. According to the organization’s press service, the name «Ukrainian Orthodox Church Kyiv Patriarchate» is now an additional official name of the OCU, and St. Volodymyr’s Cathedral in Kyiv has been granted the status of the second cathedral of the structure.
