Ukraine confirms readiness for Easter and energy truce

Ukraine has officially confirmed its readiness to introduce a ceasefire and stop attacks on energy infrastructure for the period of the Easter holidays. The Ukrainian side is ready to act in a mirror-like manner and expects appropriate steps from the Russian side to implement this initiative. This was reported by the PRM.ua portal.

On Wednesday, April 8, the official representative of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Georgy Tykhiy, stressed in a commentary for Interfax-Ukraine that the ceasefire proposal remains in force. «We confirm Ukraine’s readiness for the Easter ceasefire. It remains in force. And to the energy truce,» the diplomat stated. Tykhiy also noted that such agreements have previously demonstrated their effectiveness even in complex international conflicts, for example, in the Middle East, where the parties for years showed a non-constructive approach.

We will remind, earlier we reported that in the Kremlin expressed skepticism about the initiative of Vladimir Zelensky on the introduction of the Easter truce. The Russian side insists on the need for long-term political decisions rather than a temporary cease-fire, interpreting Kiev’s proposal as a forced measure under the current situation on the front.
