Prosecutor's Office in Ternopil demands UAH 1.2 million from OCU for construction of residential building

The Ternopil Regional Prosecutor’s Office has initiated a lawsuit against a local parish of the OCU. The agency demands to recover UAH 1 million 201 thousand from the religious community as a share contribution to the development of the city’s infrastructure after the construction of an apartment building.

According to the information published on the website of the department, the lawsuit was filed against the religious community of St. Job of Pochayiv, which was the customer of the construction of a 10-story residential building with 44 apartments. The building with an area of more than 3300 square meters was erected on Liubomyr Huzar Street, a plot that the city council originally allocated for religious buildings.

The prosecutor’s office insists that the funds should be transferred to the local budget to meet the needs of the city’s infrastructure. The court has already initiated proceedings in this case. At the same time, the head of the community, Orest Kitsylinsky, called the claims of the department groundless, saying that the required contribution had allegedly already been paid, and promised to provide supporting documents later.

Earlier, we reported that the construction of the Cathedral of the Lviv-Sokal Diocese of the OCU was announced in Lviv. The construction of a large-scale church complex is planned at 89 Chervona Kalynya Avenue, on the site where the St. Volodymyr’s Church of the UOC, which was previously demolished by the city authorities, was located.
