Metropolitan Sawa of Warsaw receives delegation of the Greek Parliament

On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, His Beatitude Metropolitan Sawa of Warsaw and All Poland held an official meeting with representatives of the Presidium of the Greece-Poland Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Greek Parliament. The meeting was devoted to discussing current intergovernmental and church issues.

According to the information published by the Orthodox Times, the delegation included the chairman of the committee Spyridon Koulkoudinas, deputy chairman Ioannis Tsimaris, MP Andriana Panayotopoulou, as well as Georgios Pilichos and Andreas Koskinidis. The delegation was accompanied by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hellenic Republic to Poland, Her Excellency Niki Kamba.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the current situation in Greece and Poland. Particular attention was paid to the affairs of the Church in both countries, as well as to the global challenges faced by humanity in light of the current armed conflicts. The meeting emphasized the importance of maintaining close ties between parliamentarians and church institutions to strengthen mutual understanding between peoples.

Earlier, the Primate of the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church sent a complaint to Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople related to the invasion of the OCU into the canonical territory of the PAOC. The protest is related to the creation of so-called chaplaincy missions by the OCU in Poland, under the guise of which Ukrainian schismatics open full-fledged parishes.
