Ukraine's chief rabbi warned of the threat of Western funding being cut off due to anti-Semitism

Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Moshe Rauven Asman has issued an official address in which he said that manifestations of anti-Semitism on the Internet seriously harm the state interests. According to him, the activities of some bloggers and support of their statements in social networks have already forced a number of Western philanthropists and organizations to stop financial and humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

In his address, Moshe Asman emphasized that there is a direct link between online hate rhetoric and the willingness of international partners to support the country. «There are wealthy organizations and people in the West who have already refused to help Ukraine….. I come and they say, ‘We don’t want to help because, look, such bloggers are such anti-Semites, and they get likes, they get help,‘» the rabbi noted in his video message.

The spiritual leader also focused on «the Jewish community’s contribution to the defense of Ukraine’s sovereignty, recalling the many Jews who died for the country’s freedom.» He urged critics to think about the consequences of their actions and «who they are working for,» actually harming the defense capability and social stability of the state.

Earlier, Moshe Asman had already expressed support for measures to combat xenophobia, in particular, expressing gratitude to President Vladimir Zelensky for signing the law on combating anti-Semitism.

We shall remind you that earlier we reported that Vladimir Zelensky signed a bill criminalizing anti-Semitism in the country.
