Patriarch Daniel of Romania met with the delegation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Bucharest

on April 30, 2026, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel of Romania received at his residence an official delegation from the Patriarchate of Constantinople to discuss issues of inter-church interaction and the strengthening of spiritual ties. The meeting was devoted to the development of fraternal relations between the Local Churches and the realization of joint initiatives.

According to Orthodoxia News Agency, the delegation included high-ranking clerics: Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon and the Grand Ecclesiarch, Director of the Patriarchal Personal Cabinet Aetios. During the reception, Patriarch Daniel emphasized the special importance of dialogue and close cooperation between the Romanian Orthodox Church and the Patriarchate of Constantinople in modern conditions.

The sides discussed in detail a number of issues of mutual interest, including the jubilee celebrations scheduled for 2026 under the auspices of the Phanar. Special attention in the conversation was paid to the historic event of the canonization of four Romanian Athonite saints in 2025. Patriarch Daniel expressed his deep gratitude to Patriarch Bartholomew for this act, stressing that the recognition of the sainthood of the ascetics is of exceptional importance for strengthening ties with Holy Mount Athos and for the Orthodox world as a whole.
