In Chernivtsi region, UOC believers confirmed their loyalty to Metropolitan Onufryi

The religious community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) in the village of Serbichany in Chernivtsi Region has officially reaffirmed its loyalty to the canonical church and its leader, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry. In a published video message, the believers also expressed a clear civic position, supporting the defenders of Ukraine and condemning external aggression.

According to the SPJ information resource, on May 3, 2026, the parish in honor of the Cathedral of St. Michael the Archistratigus of Sokyryanskyi borough witnessed its unity with the UOC. The community, under the leadership of Metropolitan Archpriest Alexander Vlasov, emphasized that it continues its activities in strict compliance with the Constitution of Ukraine.

In their statement, representatives of the parish openly condemned the war unleashed by the Russian Federation, as well as the position of Patriarch Kirill. «We support our defenders and our blessed Ukraine. We stand in truth, in prayer and in unity — and these are not just words, this is our choice, our soul and our faith,» the believers emphasized in their appeal.

Thus, the community in Bukovyna publicly outlined its attitude to the events taking place in the country, emphasizing the inextricable link between religious loyalty to their church and patriotic duty to the state.
