In Cherkasy region, court forces injured party to apologize for published information on seizure of UOC church by OCU supporters

The Sosnovsky District Court of Cherkasy satisfied the claim for the protection of the honor, dignity and business reputation of the notorious “chaplain” of the OCU, Volodymyr Ridnyi. The court recognized as false the information about the seizure of St. Nicholas Church of the Cherkasy Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Kamianka and ordered the defendants to publish an official refutation.

According to the information portal Provce.ck.ua, the trial was initiated after the publication of publications about the seizure of the church, which took place in December 2025, was spread on the Internet. During the trial, the court found that these allegations were allegedly untrue, and the prosecution “could not provide any evidence to support them.”

According to the verdict, the persons who disseminated information about the seizure of the church and Volodymyr Ridnyi’s participation in it are obliged to publicly refute it in the same way as it was made public. In particular, it is envisaged to publish a video recording with the recitation of the court decision and post the text of the refutation on all resources where information about the seizure was previously published.

Earlier we reported that the Sosnivsky District Court of Cherkasy ruled to extend the preventive measure for the head of the Cherkasy Diocese of the UOC, Metropolitan Theodosius (Snigirev), who is a defendant in several criminal cases. According to the court ruling of April 13, the bishop will remain under personal recognizance for another two months.
