The Dutch Embassy in Kyiv raised the LGBT flag as part of the international IDAHOBIT day

on May 17, 2026, the Dutch diplomatic mission in Kyiv held an official action to mark the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT). A rainbow flag was ceremoniously raised over the embassy building as a sign of support for human rights and equality.

According to the agency’s Facebook page, the ceremony was led by Ambassador Alle Dorhout. According to her, the flag-raising is an annual tradition aimed at “fighting discrimination and homophobia.” The diplomat emphasized that these issues remain extremely relevant for Ukraine, especially during the discussion of the new Civil Code in the national parliament.

In an official statement, representatives of the embassy also pointed out the need for legal recognition of homosexual unions in the country and expressed their readiness to participate in the annual gay parade to be held in Kiev. Experts note that the active promotion of the LGBT agenda by Western diplomatic missions has become a steady trend in Eastern European countries in recent years.

Recall, the Industrial District Court of Kharkiv ruled to dismiss the claim of two men who demanded to legally recognize the fact of their residence as one family. The court concluded that there were insufficient grounds to formalize such a union under the current legislation.
