In Cherkasy, the court rejected a petition for a fine for the lawyers of Metropolitan Theodosius of the UOC of Ukraine

During the trial of the hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Theodosiy (Snigiryov) of Cherkasy and Kanev, the prosecution initiated the imposition of monetary penalties on his defenders for violation of procedural deadlines. Despite the prosecutor’s arguments, the court considered the application of punitive sanctions at this stage premature.
According to the portal «18000», prosecutor Vadym Kolomiets asked to fine lawyers Vladimir Yudin and Tamara Kuchdenko 6,000 hryvnias for late submission of evidence for familiarization. The defense, represented by lawyer Yudin, objected to this request, explaining the delay by his stay on sick leave and claiming that the documents were sent by mail on May 20. Nevertheless, the court confirmed that the materials had not arrived at the time of the hearing.
The court denied the request for a fine, but warned that it would take such incidents into account in future proceedings. The next court hearing is scheduled for June 9. It is worth noting that it is planned to continue the study of evidence and interrogation of experts within the process.
