UOC-KP establishes new vicariate in Cyprus

on May 28, 2026, the UOC-KP officially expanded its structure by establishing a new representative office abroad. According to the head of the organization, Nikodim Kobzar, it was decided to establish a vicariate in Cyprus. This is reported by the Telegram channel of the head of the UOC-KP, Nikodym Kobzar.

According to the decree of the head of the UOC-KP, Archimandrite Nektarios Georgiou was admitted to the Kyiv Patriarchate, who was subsequently appointed secretary of the newly established Vicariate of Cyprus. This decision was a response to requests from the clergy and faithful of the region.

According to official information, the parish of St. Michael the Archangel and the brotherhood (monastery) of St. Avakum, along with the brethren and flock, also joined the jurisdiction of the UOC-KP. A number of other clergymen also joined the organization according to their applications. This step is considered by the leadership of the UOC-KP as part of a strategy for the systematic establishment and development of the Kyiv Patriarchate in the international arena.
