The Ukrainian Orthodox Church—Kyiv Patriarchate announced the opening of a mission in Georgia

On October 10, 2026, Georgy Guliashvili was admitted to the UOC-KP, and, according to the organization’s leadership, he will head the “Kyiv Patriarchate” mission in Georgia. The opening of the UOC-KP’s representative office in Georgia took place by order of the organization’s head, Nikodim Kobzar. This was reported by the patriarhat.info portal.

According to Decree No. 96 issued by Nikodim Kobzar, Georgy Guliashvili was appointed rector of the chapel dedicated to the Most Holy Mother of God of Iveron, located in the city of Lagodekhi (Republic of Georgia). This decision laid the groundwork for the official establishment of a representative office of the UOC-KP in this Georgian city, with Guliashvili also appointed as its head.

The leadership of the UOC-KP notes that “the opening of the mission is intended to help strengthen spiritual ties among the faithful and expand the presence of the Kyiv Patriarchate beyond the borders of Ukraine.”

As a reminder, on August 28, 2026, the head of the UOC-KP, Nikodim Kobzar, approved the request of “priest” Georgy Mandzhukov from Bulgaria to join the organization. The official document was published by the UOC-KP press service.
