The Ukrainian Orthodox Church—Kyiv Patriarchate has admitted a clergyman from Bulgaria into its ranks

On August 28, 2026, Nikodim Kobzar, head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church–Kyiv Patriarchate (UOC-KP), approved the request for “priest” Georgy Mandzhukov from Bulgaria to join the organization. The official document was published by the UOC-KP press service.

As Nikodim Kobzar told , pursuant to Decree No. 89 of August 28, 2026, Georgy Slaveykov Mandzhukov was accepted into the clergy of the UOC-KP based on his personal application. As part of his future ministry with the UOC-KP, he will report to Jacob, the head of the UOC-KP’s Simferopol Diocese.

As a reminder, earlier the Synod of the UOC-KP decided to elect clergyman Alexei Nikolishin to the position of “Bishop of Ternopil and Buchach.” This personnel change resulted from the clergyman’s transfer from the OCU, along with the congregation of the Resurrection Church in the village of Ozernaya, Ternopil Oblast.
