Metropolitan Gabriel of Lovech has been hospitalized in serious condition

Metropolitan Gabriel of Lovech, a hierarch of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, was rushed to the Military Medical Academy (MMA) in Sofia. His Eminence’s condition is described as serious, and his life is in danger.

It is reported that the bishop was hospitalized earlier this week. On Wednesday, his health deteriorated sharply, requiring immediate medical intervention. Doctors continue to fight for the metropolitan’s life, providing him with all necessary care at the medical facility in the capital.

As a reminder, Metropolitan Gabriel of Lovchan had previously issued an official appeal to the Kyiv judges hearing the lawsuit filed by the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience (GESS) against the Kyiv Metropolis. The hierarch of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church called on representatives of the Ukrainian judiciary to demonstrate impartiality and be guided by spiritual principles, warning of the serious consequences of the possible dissolution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) for the entire global Orthodox community.
