The Orthodox Church of Moldova has reported a coordinated attack on the reputation of the Metropolis and Metropolitan Vladimir

The Orthodox Church of Moldova has expressed deep concern over the launch of a coordinated media campaign aimed at discrediting the Church as an institution and, personally, Metropolitan Vladimir of Chișinău and All Moldova. Church officials view these events as part of a large-scale scheme to undermine the authority of the Metropolis.
According tothe Synodal Department for Media Relations of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, the Metropolis has good reason to believe that this media attack is a carefully orchestrated campaign. The official statement emphasizes the need to observe “the norms of common sense, civilized, and Christian behavior,” as well as the inadmissibility of crossing certain ethical boundaries in the public sphere.
The Metropolis notes that in these difficult times, the Church must remain a beacon of stability and hope for parishioners, serving as a source of moral and spiritual support. Any attempts to undermine its authority could have a negative impact on the Church’s role in society. The Synodal Department called for propriety, responsibility, and mutual respect, describing these values as indispensable for overcoming current social challenges and preserving the dignity of society.
As a reminder, we previously reported that the Bessarabian Metropolis, operating under the jurisdiction of the Romanian Orthodox Church, may initiate proceedings to strip the Orthodox Church of Moldova (part of the Moscow Patriarchate) of its right to use more than 800 churches that have the status of historical monuments. The basis for this was a recent decision by the Chisinau Court of Appeals, which set an important legal precedent.
