A court hearing on the DESS lawsuit seeking to halt the activities of the Kyiv Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is scheduled for July 2

A court hearing on the case regarding the dissolution of the Kyiv Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is scheduled for July 2. This concerns a lawsuit filed by the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience (DESS) against the Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC; the hearing is scheduled to take place at the Sixth Administrative Court of Appeal.
According to Archpriest Nikita Chekman, the attorney for the Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC, the hearing in Case No. 855/11/25 is scheduled for July 2 at 10:00 a.m. The hearing will take place at the Sixth Administrative Court of Appeal.
According to the source, the lawsuit was filed by the State Service of Security and concerns the termination of the activities of the Kyiv Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The report notes that representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church view this process as an attempt by the agency to use the courts to achieve the dissolution of the central body of church administration.
Father Nikita Chekman appealed to the faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church for their support in prayer. He asked them to pray for the Church, its archpastors, clergy, and faithful, as well as for a fair hearing of the case, especially on the eve of and on the day of the court hearing.
