The Ukrainian Orthodox Church—Kyiv Patriarchate has established a spiritual mission in Kosovo

On July 11, 2026, Nikodim Kobzar, head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church–Kyiv Patriarchate (UOC-KP), signed a decree establishing the UOC-KP’s Spiritual Mission in the Republic of Kosovo (Dardania). This decision is aimed at expanding the Church’s activities beyond Ukraine’s borders and providing spiritual care for believers in the region.
According to the UOC-KP’s Department of Public Relations and Media, the main goal of the new structure is “to carry out pastoral ministry, spread the Orthodox faith, and develop missionary activities.” The mission is intended to serve as a center of spiritual support for Orthodox Christians in Dardania.
Archimandrite Paisius, who previously served as rector of the Church of St. Cosmas of Aetolia, has been appointed head of the Spiritual Mission. According to a decree by Nikodim Kobzar, Archimandrite Paisius will report directly to the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyiv Patriarchate in the performance of his duties.
As a reminder, we previously reported that the Orthodox parish of Christ the Savior, located in the city of Denia (Alicante province, Spain), has been officially accepted into the Ukrainian Orthodox Church–Kyiv Patriarchate. The corresponding decision was adopted on May 7, 2026.
