DESS has initiated legal proceedings to dissolve the Holy Intercession Holosiivskyi Monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

The State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience (DESS) has officially announced the commencement of legal proceedings aimed at shutting down the “Holy Protection Goloseevskaya Hermitage” men’s monastery of the Kyiv Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
According to the DESS’s official website, the relevant decision was issued by the Sixth Administrative Court of Appeal on July 13, 2026. In Case No. 855/8/26, the agency is acting as the plaintiff, seeking the compulsory dissolution of the legal entity of the aforementioned religious organization.
Details of the proceedings are currently limited to the information regarding the initiation of the case; however, this step is part of the state’s policy toward religious organizations recognized as having ties to canonical structures whose administrative centers are located outside Ukraine.
As a reminder, the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience (DESS) has officially recognized the men’s monastery “Holy Protection Goloseevskaya Hermitage” of the Kyiv Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church as affiliated with a foreign religious organization whose activities are prohibited on the territory of Ukraine.
