An American "priestess" called abortion a "blessing"

Rebecca Todd Peters, a Presbyterian pastor and professor of religious studies, made a provocative statement, describing abortion as a “moral good” and an “act of love.” Her remarks sparked heated debate within the American religious community, where issues of reproductive rights have traditionally been the subject of intense discussion.

According to The Washington Post, Rebecca Todd Peters emphasized during a speech to a Unitarian congregation that, in her view, abortion is an “act of grace” and a “blessing.” She called on religious organizations to stop stigmatizing women who undergo the procedure and to begin an open dialogue about reproductive rights.

This stance drew sharp criticism from conservative religious communities in the United States. The pastor’s opponents viewed her statements as an unacceptable justification for the killing of unborn children, which further deepened the divide over the church’s stance on bioethics.
