Germany funds abortion-promoting organizations to the tune of millions of euros

The German government continues to send millions of euros to international organizations promoting abortion, despite its claims that it does not support abortion rights abroad. This information was disclosed in response to a parliamentary inquiry by AfD MP Beatrix von Storch. This is reported by the European Conservative.

In particular, the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) received 63 million euros from German funds between 2022 and 2025. These funds, paid in annual contributions of between 15 and 17 million euros per year by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, were not earmarked. The government also admitted that IPPF had transferred $872,000 to its Chinese member organization, the China Family Planning Association, since 2022. Government officials stressed that Germany rejects forced abortions and sterilizations as human rights violations and pointed to IPPF’s internal security standards. However, the government admitted that it does not systematically analyze the policy positions or advocacy activities of the organizations it funds.

Other recipients include MSI Reproductive Choices (formerly known as Marie Stopes International), which has been awarded more than €14 million from 2021 to 2025 for projects in countries such as Yemen and Nigeria. The Population Council Foundation also received German funding, with its largest program — a €10 million initiative running from 2023 to 2028 — focusing on India and Africa. In addition, the Hirschfeld-Eddie Foundation, which promotes international LGBT policy, received around 950,000 euros between 2020 and 2024. Further payments of up to 200,000 euros per year are planned for 2025 and 2026.

MP von Storch accused the government of a lack of transparency and called on the Christian Democrats to stop this funding. She pointed to the contrast between Friedrich Merz’s actions in opposition, when he submitted hundreds of parliamentary inquiries criticizing state support for ideologically motivated NGOs, and his current position as Chancellor, claiming that his government is now defending the same policies it once attacked. AfD MP Peter Felser backed this criticism, saying that the new government has abandoned its previous stance. «The Merz administration is now defending the very policies it criticized just a few months ago,» he said. — This is political betrayal in its purest form.»

We will remind, earlier odious cleric-blogger of the Ternopil diocese of the OCU Oleksiy Filyuk made a resonant statement, linking a full-scale war in the country to the millions of abortions committed in Ukraine during the years of independence. Filyuk claims that because of abortions, the war occurred in Ukraine as a punishment from God for the Ukrainian people.
