Metropolitan Anthony: The Period of Persecution Is Overcome by the Power of Grace and Faithfulness to the Church

Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, Administrator of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, called on the faithful to remain fearless and steadfast during this time of trial. According to Pravlife, the bishop emphasized that overcoming the current persecution of the Church is possible only with the support of God’s grace.

During a festive divine service at the Nikolaevsky Lebedinsky Convent on July 21, 2026, Metropolitan Anthony addressed the congregation with a message of guidance. He noted that, despite human weakness, boldness and faith enable believers to defend the purity of the canonical church structure without compromising their conscience.

In his address, His Eminence also reminded the congregation of every person’s highest calling. In his words, earthly life is not an end in itself, but serves only as the beginning of infinite eternity. The Metropolitan called on Christians to remember the purpose of their existence—the salvation of the soul—and to always recognize themselves as children of God, awaited in the abodes of the Heavenly Father.

It should be recalled that earlier, Catholicos-Patriarch Shio III of All Georgia, shortly before his election to the Patriarchal throne, officially expressed his support for the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), Metropolitan Onufry, confirming the Georgian Church’s commitment to canonical unity with the UOC. This statement served as a significant signal regarding the preservation of the Georgian Patriarchate’s foreign policy course following the change in leadership.
