Metropolitan Anthony (Pakanich): The salvation of society is possible only through repentance and fidelity to Orthodox values

On the feast day of the Venerable Fathers of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan Anthony (Pakanich) delivered an important address to the faithful, emphasizing that the only way out of the current crisis and the only means of ending wars is the spiritual revival and repentance of society. The bishop linked the survival of humanity to the preservation of Christian values, which over the centuries have helped overcome any historical upheavals.
The Metropolitan noted that the current situation resembles the godless 20th century, when the persecution of monasticism and the desecration of holy sites became a threatening reality. According to him, the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, as a spiritual stronghold, is subject to aggressive attacks by those who seek to destroy its sanctity. The archpastor emphasized: “The true key to the shrine is in the most reliable hands—the hands of God,” adding that no external destruction can destroy the faith in people’s hearts.
The publication devotes special attention to the testament of St. Theodosius of the Caves. Metropolitan Anthony reminded readers of the importance of fidelity to canonical Orthodoxy, warning against the adoption of alien teachings and calling on the faithful to defend their spiritual identity. ““Until society begins to repent, until people let goodness into their hearts… murders and wars will not cease,” His Eminence concluded, calling for patience and unceasing prayer in the face of trials.
