In the Dnipropetrovsk region, TRC officers detained a priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church right on his way to a service

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, officers from the Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC) detained the rector of a church belonging to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC). The incident occurred on the morning of September 6, as the clergyman was on his way to a service. Currently, there is no contact with him whatsoever, and his relatives claim he has effectively been abducted.

According to the Union of Orthodox Journalists (UOJ), the detainee is Father Mikhail Belokon, the rector of the Church of Saints Boris and Gleb in the village of Radostnoye. According to his relatives, at around 8:00 a.m., the priest left the city of Kamenskoye, where he lives, to travel to the village of Radostnoye, located 15 kilometers from the city, for the service.

When the priest’s car pulled into the yard of a local resident, it was immediately followed by a vehicle carrying TCC officers. Military commissars blocked the exit and then forcibly pulled Father Mikhail out of the car. According to available information, he was first taken to a medical facility on Panikahi Street in Dnipro and then transferred to the regional TRC building on Schmidt Street.

The priest’s family is sounding the alarm: at this time, all mobile communication with him has been completely cut off. Father Mikhail’s son has repeatedly tried to reach his father by phone, but all attempts have been unsuccessful.
