Serbian Patriarch Porfirije sent a congratulatory message to the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

Patriarch Porphyrius, Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church, sent an official message of congratulations to His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kyiv and All Ukraine on the occasion of the feast day of St. Vladimir, Prince and Equal-to-the-Apostles. In his message, the head of the Serbian Church expressed spiritual support for the faithful of Ukraine and noted the historical significance of Prince Vladimir’s choice for the entire Orthodox people.

According to , the press service of the Serbian Church reports that Patriarch Porfirije emphasized that Saint Prince Vladimir “found Christ as a priceless pearl,” making Him the spiritual center of his people’s existence. The congratulatory message specifically highlighted the continuity of the Christian traditions established by the Baptizer of Rus’.

In concluding his address, Patriarch Porphyry invoked God’s blessing upon the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, its clergy, and its flock. He expressed the hope that, through the prayerful intercession of Saint Prince Vladimir, the Lord would grant the faithful an abundance of grace and spiritual strength in their current trials.

It should be recalled that earlier, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia drew attention to the number of Local Churches that supported the intervention of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in the Ukrainian church issue. The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church noted that only three Local Churches expressed support for the head of the Phanar in the matter of legalizing the Ukrainian schism and establishing the OCU, while the majority oppose it or refrain from expressing a public opinion on this issue.
